Here, There And Everywhere
A month ago I climbed a 2,500 meter high lava spewing volcano in Guatemala… And today, today I got to sleep late… Yay.
Since last Tuesday I’m a working man again. For a few days a week I do boring RSI inducing work for some company in an industrial area. From nine to five in an office with computers, ever-ringing telephones, TL light, company policies and undrinkable machine coffee (YUK!!!). It’s an effective reminder of the fact that I never want to end up in an organization like that. But hey, I need the money right now so I’m willing to sell myself to the devil.
I fill the other days of the week with some loose jobs in the ‘evenementen-industrie’ as a stagehand: building stages, taking down all technical equipment after parties, that sort of stuff. It’s a pretty cool job, hard work, but fun too, and it’s a great feeling when you’re finished for the day and you can actually see what you’ve accomplished (in contrast to the RSI job).
The Netherlands is getting colder, cloudier, windier and rainier all the time. The other day I was biking home when it started pouring down. It reminded me of my biking trip in Mexico, except the temperature was much lower, the traffic was very very orderly and there weren’t any fruit stands to hide under, nor any friendly Mexicans around. It really wasn’t the same at all actually… I miss Central America at times, I really do.
In a couple of days I get a sweet little break from this country though, as I’ll be spending a long weekend in Edinburgh (Scotland) to visit Mikey who’s studying there for a year. I’ve been to Edinburgh before, but I was a lot younger and I can’t remember a thing about the place. I’m really looking forward to going there.
