It’s Friday afternoon…
… and I’m pondering about everything that’s going on in my life.
Against all expectations, it turns out that I only have 2 hours of class a week (every Monday), and that’s really all my activity at university for the next months. That’s not a whole lot of studying, I can assure you that! I also have no clue whatsoever how my formerly excruciatingly stressful study Information Sciences became so tranquilo and shanti all of a sudden… Don’t get me wrong, I’m quite happy with the fact that I can actually find some spare time right now, but this is just ridiculous.
So I think I’m going to need to find to do something with my time. I could actually start a fulltime job right now, without any damaging effects towards my study at all!!! “An interesting development” is the understatement of the year, when describing the differences between now and how things were when I left Amsterdam for Central America.
I don’t want a fulltime job though. I like my freedom too much, and I like to have enough spare time for my hobbies and whatever comes up. But I do want the money. Well, I don’t really want it, but I really do need it after two months of travelling. I’m pretty much broke right now. So I’m going for some temp jobs in the coming months. In fact, I went to my temporary jobs company this morning, and told them to keep an eye out for me.
Right before that I had a meeting with lovely Mariette, administrative assistant at the company where I worked until the summer. We had a cappuccino and a talk together. We decided on one final day of work in which I will teach some of my former work procedures to the newest employee. After that day I probably won’t come back again. Which is fine by me, because I wasn’t really planning on coming back anyway.
So far I’ve been keeping myself busy though: I’ve been seeing my friends again, doing my laundry, rearranging my room, enjoying the weather and acclimatizing to this country again. Also, I’ve applied for a university exchange programme. A bit of a hassle to get all the administrative papers in order, but I handed them all in before the deadline, más o menos anyway. If all goes well, I’ll be in Melbourne (Australia) by February, for one semester. A nice destination to look forward to!
But nothing is for sure yet, so I’ll see how that turns out: I’ll hear if I made the selection in a week or two.
I’m gonna go to the Oosterpark now and enjoy the sun while she’s still shining.
